About the site

This site was created completely on whim and has no real purpose. It's mainly about dress ups, but has some other random stuff as well.

About the name: As the site was made on whim and the content is pretty incoherent and unimportant I didn't bother too much with the name either. So I picked the first thing that came to my mind: The young magpie we saw on our backyard last summer (nicknamed Bubba).

About my username

Hapuriainen is a combination of "hapero", a mushroom species that has some resemblance to my first name (but other than that mushrooms have nothing to do with me) and my last name. It's just a silly nickname a classmate came up with in grade school. Nobody really used it, but nowadays it makes a nice username on the internet.

How do you pronounce it then?
If you're familiar with Japanese, it's ハプリアイネン. If not, uh...

• "Ha" (almost) as in hut
• "pu" as in put
• "ri" as in riddle (or not, but I can't think of a better example)
• "ai" as eye
• "nen", rhymes with ten

About the mascot

Bubba appeared on our backyard at the beginning of the summer in 2010. I didn't know if he was a male of a female, so I picked an unisex name. Since I tend to give stuff weird names he'll have to stick with what I combined from "Bubble bobble" (a computer game I played years ago) and Jabba (Star wars) (both came to my mind totally randomly and neither has any connection to the bird). For the purpose of the site I sort of had to give him a gender, and as I'm no ornithologist I just guessed male. If someone more familiar with birds wants to prove me wrong (or right) feel free to.

Despite only appearing once Bubba has become quite important to me (due to his cuteness): I even named my university computer after him.

His main purpose on this site is to be something I could call the site and appear in the frame so that it wouldn't be just text. He also spreads the kind of cuteness even I approve of.
