Cats were pretty popular so there's a lot of them. Good for me since I'm a cat person. Many of the cats here (8 as of now) are actually a human transformed into a cat. That's quite a lot more than with the other animals featured here. |
Necoconeco, (Yama)Maya and Chiyo's dad, from Azumanga daioh I WISH I WERE A BIRD Azumanga had a lot more cats than I first remembered. I almost forgot the biting cat! Chiyo's dad is one of the best anime characters ever. Maya on the other hand felt a bit unnecessary for me, he was there only so that Sakaki could finally get a cat. |
Shampoo, from Ranma 1/2 Her cuteness doesn't really show that well in the picture... I like her hair in her human form. |
Kirara, from Inuyasha I don't remember Kirara ever doing much to contribute to the plot, other than a means of transport. |
Rokumon, from Rinne Takahashi seems to be fond of cats. When Rokumon was first introduced I didn't like him at all (why does every series need a small nonhuman sidekick?), but his full cat form is pretty cute. |
Miiko, from Animal Academy A coloured picture reveals that she's (ugly) bright blue. I wish I hadn't seen that, I like to think that she was some normal colour instead. |
Puss in Boots, from Shrek He was a great character, one of my favourites in Shrek. Not great enough that I'd actually bother to see his own movie though... I wonder what he would have turned into in Shrek 2 if he had been the one to try the magic potion instead of Donkey. |
Ichigo, from Tokyo Mew Mew Of course the special snowflake Ichigo is the only one of the TMM girls to get an animal form. I don't know about the anime version, but at least the beginning of the manga version managed to use the other Mew Mews and their personalities. Towards the end, however, they faded into one joke background characters whose main purpose was to ensure that Ichigo gets to be with her beloved Masaya... Or that's how I remember it. Also I find her cat form pretty ugly, the TMM human eyes look freaky on a cat. |
Yoruichi, from Bleach I had to ponder quite a while whether I'd let anything from Bleach to the glorious Bubba the Magpie, but I guess Yoruichi wasn't that bad. |
|
Meowth, Persian, Skitty, Delcatty, Purrloin and Liepard, from Pokemon I'm not too fond of the pokemon cats, none of their designs manage to impress me. Meowth/Persian are boring, Skitty/Delcatty are OMGIMSOCUTELOOKATME<3<3, and Purrloin/Liepard... that's a step to the right direction. There are plenty of "cool" dog pokemon, we need more cats like that, not just cute ones. Skitty's tail is still cute though (not in the bad way). |
|
Eevee + its evolutions, from Pokemon I'm not quite sure if the Eeveelutions should be here. Some of them, such as Espeon, Leafeon and Glaceon are clearly cats, but for example Jolteon could go with the Canines. Or even rabbits? But to keep things nice and clean they can all be stuffed here. I like the idea for the Eeveelutions, I wish they made one for every type. The fluffy Flareon is my favourite. |
Kero, from Cardcaptor Sakura I've never liked Kero and it's silly head. I'd probably like it a lot more if it had better eyes, but I guess the dots are artistic or something like that. |
Takuto, from Full Moon o Sagashite I think that a similar cat is referred to as "Neko-kun" in the manga omakes. He's not cute at all if you ask me... |
Nya, from Pita-ten It's been a while since I read Pita-ten, but if my memory serves right Nya was an awesome character, especially if you consider how ultra-cute the art style of the manga is. |
Oliver, from Oliver&Company Sadly the Disney cats and their movies are quite unimpressive. I bet I would have liked Oliver&Company a lot more if I was a decade younger, but I saw it for the first time when I was 20 and it failed to leave any impression on me. I guess it can be counted as a good thing that the movie wasn't remarkably bad, but there was nothing memorable about it. |
Duchess, Thomas O'Malley, Toulouse, Marie and Berlioz, from Aristocats Same as with the Oliver movie, Aristocats did nothing for me. What was the plot anyway? The evil butler takes the cats away, and the cats come back. Uh... O'Malley was the only thing in the movie that wasn't "meh" for me. |
Kyoo, from Fruits Basket Fruits Basket animals still don't look too realistic, but at least this is better than that Rat. |
Kyubey, from Puella Magi Madoka Magica Alright, it definitely isn't a cat, but that's the closest real animal comparison I can think for it. Kyubey is too awesome to be left out anyway. |
Paru-kun, from Gentlemen's Alliance Cross It didn't serve any purpose for the story did it? I can't remember it doing anything else than be one of the animal mascots. |
Niya, from The Secret World of Arrietty Was it Mina in the dub? I felt that it got a random twist in its characterisation that pretty much came from nowhere. |
Welsper, from Ah! My Goddess Welsper had a pretty, lithe body; I wish I could have found a better pic to show it. |
Presidents Aria, Hime and Maa, from ARIA I've never liked the ARIA cats. I read ARIA for the peaceful atmosphere, weird hidden fantasy, amazing backgrounds and pretty girls. Then President Aria has to stuff himself into every scene. An intimate conversation between Akari and Alicia is much less intimate when we can see Aria's stupid face in the background. I could even tolerate the occasional chapters president Aria gets all for himself if that meant that he stayed away from the main story, but noooo, he's everywhere. Plus, they don't even look like cats. Except Hime, who was't all that prominent. |
Advisor Tea (Aria) and Hime, from Amanchu! From the author of ARIA, inserting cats everywhere continues! At least this time the cat mascots weren't everywhere, but they still don't look much like cats to me. |
Chi, from Chi's Sweet Home Chi's Sweet Home had, of course, plenty of cats, but it'll take me a while to search pics of everyone. While I don't care as much for the series as I once did I have to admit that the faces Chi makes are awesome. I wish that she'd grow up though, the "hee hee I'm a stupid little kitty" is getting a bit old to me. |
