Choosing the cosplay outfits was great fun and I would have loved to include more, but I thought it'd get too far from the original subject of the game to make it just a cosplay outfit festa. Other ideas included stuff like Woody and Jessie from Toy Story, something from Mawaru-Penguindrum, something from Utena, Inuyasha and Kagome, and anime school uniforms for example from Haruhi Suzumiya, Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star. And more Disney outfits, but the male lead usually has such a boring outfit that it wasn't worth drawing it (prince Eric I'm looking at you). Outfits will be demonstrated by Red and Lyra. Lyra was chosen because her hairstyle suited all the outfits... which of course leads to the observation that I didn't make the outfits suitable for all characters. |
Aladdin and princess Jasmine, from Aladdin (Disney)
Aladdin's outfit was pretty boringly non-detailed, and even one of the few details (the patch on his pants) gets hidden by the leg... And I have no idea how the hat is supposed to work. |
Mario and princess Peach, from Super Mario games
Mario was a must considering how the game already has Lyra's Marioish outfit. for Peach it was slightly more difficult to decide on the outfit since the dress was slightly different in different games. In the end I just took the one that had easily a passable reference available. |
Link and Princess Zelda, from the Legend of Zelda : Spirit Tracks
The "what version of the outfit I should use" problem from the Mario outfits was present with the Zelda outfits, especially if you consider that Link and Zelda's outfits vary a lot more in different games than those in Mario. But since I'm currently playing Spirit Tracks and it's the only Zelda game I've played since the GBC era anywa the choice was fairly easy. Not that the chibified characters had the best outfits to offer though; I'm fairly sure that Zelda would have had prettier dresses. |
Howl and Sophie, from Howl's Moving Castle
The Howl cosplay returns from the Naruto Couples dress up v2! It seemed to be fairly popular and I like the movie, so why not? Even in this game it's the cosplay that has received the most comments. |
Flynn Rider and Rapunzel, from Tangled
These were a must and I had decided to include them long before I even started drawing anything for this game. Even the main guy had a nice outfit! It was slightly difficult to find reference though, but since the art quality has been pretty... simple for this dress up I could easily slip a little. |
Taichi Yagami and Sora Takenouchi, from Digimon Adventure
Taichi cosplay looks stupid without the huge hair... Yamato would have been nice too, but then I would have had to draw a female counterpart, which in this case would have been Mimi, which would have meant that I'd have had to draw the hat that requires two layers, so no. |
Monkey D Luffy and Nami (time skip), from One Piece
"I don't need reference for timeskip Luffy, I can draw him from memory"... yeah right, I had completely forgotten about the buttons until I searched for the reference pic for this site. And the Nami cosplay looks silly without the humungous boobs. |
Edward Elric and Winry Rockbell, from Fullmetal Alchemist
Pretty lazy with Ed's coat, it would have looked a lot better with just a little more effort. And I didn't bother with proper layering for Winry's bandanna either. |
Takeru Takaishi and Hikari Yagami, from Digimon Adventure 02
My digimon OTP appears again! I wonder if Takeru's hat fits any of the males properly, it looks like it'd have serious trouble covering the hair. |
Haku and Chihiro, from Spirited Away
Okay, they should have sandals. Ummm... you can use Luffy's for Haku, and... Misty's white sandals for Chihiro. |
Monkey D Luffy and Nami, from One Piece
This time I got Nami's shoes right! Which meant that I had to search for a new reference for this site. Nami should probably have the log pose and the bracelet. |
